Cute Button magnet Tutorial

Hiya peeps! Yeah its Friday already, its almost time for the weekend.
I know ive been a bad blogger this week, Im still catching up with the usual, housework, ironing, custom orders etc But i did think that even if ive been doing boring stuff like weighing buttons and winding bakers twine that i would bore you with my day to day photos and 'works behind the scenes stuff too :)

Im holding a table at a craft fair in November and this week has been spent making lots of little things for the table. I find the smaller (cheaper) items always sell well at craft fairs. Im hoping to get a few tutorials done to share over the next few weeks, keep your eyes peeled.
The display idea came from the lovely Emma Devotion to the Dream. Thanks Em ; ) xxx

For today's Tutorial im going to show you how to make some cute Button covered Magnets.
You will need;
Cover Buttons (i used a size 36 (7/8") from etsy seller Everything Ribbons
Cover button Tool (not essential but is much faster and easier) also from Everything Ribbons
Fabric/Felt or Wide ribbon (if you are using a size 36 cover button, cut your circle to 22mm diameter)
20mm Magnet
Hot glue gun

Step 1; Place your fabric.felt over the centre of the cover button tool. Pop the Top cover Button on top, make sure its in the centre!

Step 2; Push the Button Cover down into the button tool all the way.

Step 3; Fold the fabric/felt in, this is where i skirt a little bit of hot glue into the button, then push the magnet into the Button.

Step 4; Pop out your button from the button tool. Ta daaa, your done!
This is what it should look like. A lovely snug fit : )

Step 5; I have searched all over for ideas on how to display the magnets, i didnt want to just put them in a bag or in a container because there so expensive to buy. I needed a cheaper option.......Washers! Yep go and raid hubbys tool box lol I stuck the washers to the back of the card with Anitas PVA glue (love that stuff)

Other goodies used;
Kraft Card stock now available at Sew Sweet

Heres a close up of two of the button magnet sets using Ribbon from Sew Sweet

This very vintage looking set was made using a layer of  the Victorian flat Lace over Garnet wool felt

This set has a nautical look to it.
Here i used the Sky blue wool felt and the 38mm baby blue & White Stripe grosgrain

Hope you all enjoyed the tutorial and have a fabulous weekend : )

These are great Emma - and I'm a great fan of Emma Devotion to the Dream myself. I'm going to try these for my next fair using leftover bits of old embroidered linens and see how they look. Thanks for a great tutorial too - I use my Button Boutique set all the time for presentation so next stop is the ironmonger for some washers!
